Ok, so what is a 'virtual race'?
A virtual race is a race that can take place wherever you want, in your own time and at your own pace. A virtual race can be completed on a treadmill, around a racetrack, a beachfront, even during another competitive race, wherever!
What do I have to do to sign up?
Its simple! Click on the enter tab at the top and you will be taken to our shop page. Choose either the 5k, 10k or half marathon and click add to cart, then click again to complete your purchase. (Just follow the instructions)
Once you have registered just complete your run by the end of the month, send us your race evidence and we will send you your medal in the post!
What do you mean by race evidence?
If you use one of the many running apps available out there at the moment, just take a screencap and email it to us. Otherwise a picture of your treadmill display or running watch data will be fine! From January 1st we are asking for ALL EVIDENCE to be emailed to the address: [email protected] as facebook/twitter submissions were getting missed. By sending to this address we can guarantee that evidence will be seen. You will be sent an aoutomated response to confirm yur evidence has been recieved! All evidence must be submitted by the end of each month to qualify for a medal!
Have I got to complete the distance all in one go?
No, if you are building up your distances, you can split your race over a few days or weeks and they can be in any amount of distances as you want! For example, you may complete a 10k race with 2 x 5k, or 5x 2k, its up to you! Whichever way you complete the distance, a medal is a great reward for your achievement!
Where can I check if I have entered?
Once you have enetered, you can confirm that you have a place by clicking on the yellow banner on the 'races' page. There are two banners here, one is to check if you have entered, the second is to download your race number. Race numbers will be available to download 1 week before the race opens and will be accessable via our dropbox page (just click the yellow banner) You do not need a dropbox account to view/download. Please allow 48 hours from time of entry for your entry to appear on the entries list.
Who are POW! Virtual Running Uk?
POW! Virtual Running is owned and run by a primary school teacher by day, dad of one, running bug catching guy from Swansea in South Wales. The idea began when I saw that there was a gap in the market for people who either can't travel to races, people who are training for their first competitve race or for seasoned runners who are looking for a 'stop-gap' between organised races. (Or in my case, people who just like great medals!)
Who can enter a virtual race?
Anyone and everyone! We would ask that if your child (under 16) wants to enter that they should complete the distance under supervision and with a competing parent/guardian (and running together is more fun!) but apart from that there are no restrictions. Just get out there and run, walk, hike, whatever works for you! By entering our virtual races you are agreeing that any injury or damage that is caused by completing your race is your own responsibility. POW! Virtual Running Ltd will not be held responsible for any injury that occurs during your run.
Can I enter with a group?
Of course! We will be launching leaderboards once we are up and running (for those who want to be included in it) so its a great opportunity for you and your friends to get competitive. Also, if there are more than 10 of you entering at once please contact us for our group discount prices before entering.
When will I get my medal?
Medals are sent out twice a month, around the 15th-18th and the last day of each month (so you wont have to wait more than 2 weeks to recieve your medal!) Each medal comes with a ribbon so it's easy to add it to your medal collection.
How do you know where to send my medal to?
All medals will be sent to the address that is registered on your PayPal account. If medals are sent to an address that has been added incorrectly or not updated (after moving house etc) we ask for a £5 admin fee to cover costs and send out an additional medal. If you would like your medal sent to a different address please email us after entering on the email address below.
Im not in the UK, can I still enter?
Of course! Although we do have to charge a small postage fee to anyone entering from outside of the UK. Just choose your country at checkout and your ready to race!
Finally, the only other question you need to ask yourself.... When are you going to enter?
